Lebanon, TN – The #25 ranked Patriots utilized a balanced effort as they earned the 3-0  (25-21, 25-17, 25-16) road win over Cumberland, Tuesday night at Dallas Floyd Arena. With the win, UC improves to 26-4 on the season, 10-0 in MSC play.

Sara Zampedri led the way for the Patriots with 15 kills and eight digs.  With her 15 kills, Zampedri has surpassed Marla Harris for second in Cumberlands history for career kills with 1,689.  Brynnley Bryant added nine kills and nine digs, while Savanah Jolly dished out 26 assists.  Martina Frangella notched five blocks, Rayne Manning chipped in seven digs.

It was back-and-forth from the first serve until an Elaina Fischer kill sparked a three-point run giving UC the 6-4 lead.  Bryant added a trio of kills to extend the lead to 9-6. The Phoenix went on runs and retook the lead twice before UC rallied.  A block from Zampedri and Frangella sparked a four-point Pats run that included a pair of kills from Zampedri to make it 21-18.  UC notched three of the final four points to take the set 25-21 and the 1-0 lead.

Cumberland jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the second set, however, back-to-back kills from Fischer evened the score at 5-5.   The set was tied eight time before UC went on a 5-1 run capped off with a Ryann Livingston ace giving the Patriots a 17-13 lead.  The Phoenix pulled within two before Cumberlands rattled off a 7-1 run capped off with an ace from Jolly to take the set 25-17 and the 2-0 lead.

The third set started similar to the second set with Cumberlands taking the early 5-3 lead.  A Zampedri kill sparked a 6-1 run giving the Patriots a 9-6 edge.  A few plays later, Frangella and Zuzanna Wolszewska combined for a block as UC extended their lead to 12-7.  The Phoenix utilized a 5-1 run to pull within a point, however, that was the closest they came as Cumberlands went on runs of two, three and five points to take the 24-15 lead.  Two plays later the Patriots clinched the set 25-16 and the 3-0 sweep.
