Bowling Green, KY – After an impressive week on both sides of the ball, the seventh-ranked University of the Cumberlands swept the Mid-South Conference weekly honors as Grace Ross was named MSC Player of the Week and Jessica Cord earned MSC Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday afternoon. 

Ross delivered a dominant performance at the plate, batting .560 (14-for-25) across seven games to help the Patriots post a 5-2 record. She tallied three doubles, two home runs, and 11 RBIs while scoring seven runs and compiling a .920 slugging percentage. Ross recorded five extra-base hits during the week and produced multiple multi-hit performances, highlighted by a 4-for-4 outing with a home run, a double, and three RBIs against Northwestern Ohio. She added timely hits throughout the Patriots Classic, contributing in both tight victories and run-rule wins to anchor the middle of the UC lineup. 

In the circle, Cord was equally impressive, posting a 4-0 record across four starts. She threw 24.0 innings, allowing just six total runs and three earned for a 0.88 ERA while striking out 19 batters and limiting opponents to 14 hits. Cord recorded three complete games during the week, including an eight-inning performance in a 5-4 win over RV Indiana Tech. She also tossed a five-inning shutout in an 8-0 victory over Midway and capped the week with a complete-game effort in an 11-2 walk-off run-rule win to close the Patriots Classic. 

Ross and Cord were instrumental in helping Cumberlands improve to 6-1 on the season, as the Patriots continue their strong start heading into the next weekend of competition. 

Cumberlands will return to action on Friday, February 20, hosting the University of St. Francis (Ill.) at 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM at the UC Softball Complex in Williamsburg, KY.
