Harrogate, TN – The No. 15 University of the Cumberlands women's tennis team earned its first win of the season Friday afternoon, defeating Lincoln Memorial 4–2 at the LMU Indoor Tennis Facility. 

The Patriots dropped the doubles point after Lincoln Memorial claimed victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. UC's Marina Nagai and Haruna Kojima picked up a 7–5 win at No. 2 doubles, but the Railsplitters held a 1–0 edge heading into singles play. 

Cumberlands responded with a strong showing in singles, capturing four matches to secure the team victory. Nagai evened the score with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, 6–4, 6–4, followed by Mahiro Hara's 6–2, 6–3 victory at No. 4. 

Kojima delivered another point for the Patriots with a three-set battle at No. 2 singles, topping Carla Ramonet 6–1, 1–6, 7–5. YuFang Liu clinched the match for UC at No. 5 singles, overcoming Mar Garcia Bucosa in three sets, 6–1, 4–6, 7–5. 

UC will return to action tomorrow, February 7th where the Patriots will continue their run at the LMU Indoor Invite, playing King and Carson-Newman starting at 8:00 AM.
