#6 Patriots Earn Ranked Road Sweep Over #14 Reinhardt

Waleska, GA – The #6 Patriots completed the series sweep over #14 Reinhardt on Saturday afternoon, winning both games of the doubleheader at Ken White Field. UC opened the day with a 15-5 victory before earning a 5-1 win in the series finale. Cumberlands improved to 13-3 on the season while the Eagles fell to 5-12 overall.

Game One – #6 Cumberlands 15, #14 Reinhardt 5
The Patriots exploded for seven runs in the second inning and never looked back in a 15-5 victory in the opener.

Nolan Wilson earned the win after tossing 5.1 innings and allowing four runs while striking out four. Ethan Coronel worked the final 3.2 innings to earn the save secure the win.

UC struck quickly in the second inning, plating seven runs on four hits and capitalizing on Reinhardt miscues. Zamaurion Hatcher delivered an RBI double, Clay Shelton added an RBI single, and Jay Flynn ripped a two-run double to highlight the inning. Caden Petrey and Hatcher each drew bases-loaded walks to extend the early advantage to 7-0.

The Patriots continued to add on throughout the afternoon. Flynn drove in another run in the third, Hatcher launched a solo home run in the fifth, and Petrey connected for a solo shot in the eighth.

Petrey finished 3-for-5 with four RBI, while Hatcher went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Flynn scored three runs and drove in three as Cumberlands totaled 10 hits and drew nine walks in the victory.

Reinhardt pushed across single runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and ninth innings, but UC's offense proved too much in the 15-5 win.

Game Two – #6 Cumberlands 5, #14 Reinhardt 1
The Patriots completed the sweep with a strong pitching performance and timely late offense in a 5-1 victory in game two.

Stuart Tharle earned the win, tossing five innings while allowing just one run and striking out four. Jaden Morris worked the final two innings and struck out four to close out the game and earn his first save of the season.

Reinhardt struck first in the opening inning, but UC answered in the fifth when Bryce Turner blasted a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1.

Cumberlands took the lead in the sixth. Derick Andiarena doubled and later scored on an RBI single by Ronald Almanzar to give the Patriots a 2-1 advantage.

The Patriots broke the game open in the seventh inning. Justin Veloz delivered a pinch-hit home run to make it 3-1. Later in the frame, Petrey lined an RBI single and a wild pitch brought home another run to extend the lead to 5-1.

The UC pitching staff limited Reinhardt to just five hits in the nightcap while striking out eight to secure the sweep.

Cumberlands will return home Saturday, March 7th, to host Cleary University for a four-game series.
