#6 Patriots Split Doubleheader at (RV) Milligan

Milligan College, TN – The #6 Patriots split their doubleheader at (RV) Milligan on Tuesday afternoon at Anglin Field. Cumberlands took game one 11-4 before falling 15-4 in the nightcap. UC now stands at 16-5 on the season.

Game One – #6 Cumberlands 11, (RV) Milligan 4
The Patriots used a late offensive surge to secure an 11-4 victory in the opener.

Derick Andiarena led the offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Almanzar finished with a home run and two RBI, while Castillo scored three runs.

JD Price earned the win in relief, allowing one run over three innings while striking out two. Justin Cortez worked the final two innings to close out the victory.

Ronald Almanzar set the tone early with a two-run home run in the first inning to give UC a 2-0 lead. Cumberlands added two more runs in the second, highlighted by RBI singles from Dariel Castillo and Derick Andiarena to push the advantage to 4-0.

Milligan cut into the deficit with a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.

The Patriots answered immediately in the top of the seventh. Justin Veloz doubled to lead off the frame before Castillo delivered an RBI single. Andiarena followed with a two-run single, and Johnboy Rittenhouse added an RBI double. Caden Petrey capped the five-run inning with a sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 11-4.

Game Two – (RV) Milligan 15, #6 Cumberlands 4
The nightcap saw Milligan jump out early and never relinquish control in a 15-4 win.

Cumberlands struck first in the opening inning after aggressive base running and an RBI single from Zamaurion Hatcher gave UC a 2-0 lead.

Milligan responded with four runs in the bottom of the first and six more in the second to seize momentum. The Buffaloes added four runs in the third to build a double-digit advantage.

Derick Andiarena provided the Patriots' biggest offensive highlight of the game with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Caden Petrey added a run earlier in the contest, but UC was unable to overcome the early deficit.

Milligan totaled 15 hits in the game, while the Patriots were limited to five.

Cumberlands will return home Friday, March 13th, to begin conference play against Cumberland University at Doyle Buhl Stadium.
