Waleska, GA – The #6 Patriots came out with a strong defensive effort, however, it wasn't enough as they fell to #4 Reinhardt 13-5 in their AAC opener Thursday afternoon. With the win, Reinhardt improves to 2-0 on the year, while the Patriots move to 2-3.
Will Rogers led the way for UC with four points, including a pair of goals.
Nathan Cook added a goal and an assist.
Johnny Simpson scooped six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers, while
Dakota White won eight faceoffs and scooped five ground balls.
Nathan Foskey made 13 saves in the game.
Foskey added four second saves, while UC's defense applied stifling pressure to keep hold the Eagles in check. Cumberlands tallied two shots on frame, before
Will Rogers connected with
Nathan Cook for a goal cutting the deficit to 2-1 midway through the period. UC looked for the equalizer, however, Reinhardt made a trio of saves and added a late goal to extend their lead to 3-1 at the break.
The Eagles took a 4-1 advantage before Cook found
Sid Stewart in front of the cage for a goal cutting the deficit to 4-2 with 9:03 remaining. Reinhardt added a pair of goals to extend their lead to 6-2 heading into the fourth quarter.
A couple minutes into the fourth quarter,
Will Rogers ripped a shot into the upper corner of the cage to pull the Patriots within three at 6-3. The Eagles scored four unanswered goals before Rogers found
Brody Hermann for a goal cutting the deficit to 10-4 midway through the fourth quarter. Reinhardt netted three of the final four goals for the 13-5 final.
The Patriots return to the field Saturday, March 14, when they return home to face (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. matchup. Cumberlands will honor its 2026 senior class prior to the start of the game.
