Williamsburg, KY – The eighth-ranked Patriots couldn't overcome an early six goal run falling to second-ranked Keiser 20-8 Saturday afternoon the UC Lacrosse Complex. With the win the Seahawks improve to 7-0 on the season, while the Patriots move to 5-5.
Dakota White led the way going 13-26 on faceoffs with eight ground balls and a goal.
Caden Abbott and
Nathan Cook each tallied two goals.
JD Cook played the second half and made ten saves, while
Nathan Foskey notched seven saves and a goal.
Keiser struck first, however, UC responded forcing a shot clock violation before
Nathan Cook put a well-placed shot into the cage making it 1-1. After a Seahawk goal,
Jack Bichsel intercepted a pass an fired a shot into an empty net from 25 yards away tying the game at 2-2 with 6:32 remaining. Keiser tallied six straight goals before
Carter Barrett found White in front of the cage for a goal. In the closing seconds of the quarter,
Michael Adams forced a turnover and with the clocking winding down, Foskey took a full field length shot that found the back of the cage cutting the deficit to 8-4. It marked the first career goal for both Bichsel and Foskey.
The Seahawks outscored UC 8-2 over the next two quarter extending their lead to 16-6.
JD Cook notched a trio of saves in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. Midway through the period Cook made a strong move and finished for a goal cutting the deficit to 17-7.
Will Rogers added a late goal for the 20-8 final.
