RALEIGH, NC – The University of the Cumberlands women's track & field team wrapped up competition this weekend with athletes competing at both the Raleigh Relays and the Blue Raider Rumble, hosted by Lindsey Wilson. The Patriots recorded multiple event wins and strong performances across both meets.
Raleigh Relays
At the Raleigh Relays,
Alex Cundiff led the Patriots in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.09.
In the 200 meters,
Ritorion Vigne posted a time of 26.06.
Blue Raider Rumble
Cumberlands turned in multiple top finishes on the track, highlighted by a strong showing in the 800 meters.
Caroline Cronen led the way with a first-place finish in 2:23.25, followed by
Megan Kitchens in second at 2:25.47.
Hope Boa added a time of 2:28.16, while
Grace Nelson clocked 2:30.38 and
Jasmin Ponce ran 2:40.95.
In the 1500 meters,
Elisa Helferich placed second with a time of 5:00.56.
Rylee Schaffner followed in 5:17.57, while
Kayleigh Burkhead recorded a time of 5:20.71 and
Chloe Taylor finished in 5:33.85.
On the sprint side, A'yana Gray ran 1:03.85 in the 400 meters and later posted a 27.22 in the 200 meters.
Abigail McKamey recorded a time of 1:03.85 in the 400m hurdles prelim section and later ran 27.56 in the 200 meters.
Kennedi Riascos posted times of 13.14 in the 100 meters and 27.87 in the 200 meters, while
Aliah Laster ran 15.85 in the 100-meter hurdles and 28.12 in the 200 meters.
In the field events,
Katie Slade led the way with a throw of 34.57 meters in the javelin.
Delaney Deaton recorded a mark of 38.49 meters in the hammer throw, while
Taylor Lunsford threw 29.78 meters and
Kelsie Peavler competed in the event.
In the shot put,
Kelsie Peavler recorded a mark of 8.83 meters, while
Taylor Lunsford added a throw of 8.19 meters. In the discus, Peavler posted 32.34 meters while Deaton also competed.
The Pats will return next weekend at the CMU Invite.
