#6 Patriots Secure Series Win with 6-4 Victory Over UNOH

Williamsburg, KY – The #6 Patriots secured the series win over the University of Northwestern Ohio on Friday afternoon with a 6-4 victory in the series finale at Doyle Buhl Stadium. Cumberlands improves to 15-4 on the season while UNOH falls to 8-10.

Jackson Mayo earned the win in relief, improving to 2-1 after working 0.2 innings in a key middle-inning situation. Justin Cortez picked up his second save of the season, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out four to close out the game. Ben Rohrbach also delivered 3.1 strong innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit and no runs to stabilize the contest after an early deficit.

Almanzar led the offense, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Andiarena added two hits including the home run, while Petrey finished with a double and an RBI as Cumberlands totaled nine hits in the win.

Northwestern Ohio struck first with a run in the second inning before pushing three across in the third to take a 4-1 lead.

The Patriots responded immediately in the bottom of the third. Derick Andiarena launched a solo home run to cut the deficit, and RBI from Zamaurion Hatcher and Justin Veloz tied the game at 4-4.

Cumberlands took control in the sixth inning. After Dariel Castillo was hit by a pitch and advanced on a wild pitch, Ronald Almanzar delivered an RBI single to give UC a 5-4 lead. Caden Petrey followed with an RBI double to extend the advantage to 6-4.

From there, the Patriot bullpen shut the door. Mayo navigated a key sixth-inning threat, and Cortez retired eight of the final nine batters he faced to seal the win and secure the series victory.

The Patriots will return to action Tuesday, March 10th, when they travel to Milligan College, Tennessee to face (RV) Milligan. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
