Athens, TN – The second-ranked Cumberlands women's lacrosse team set the tone early and put together a complete game in their 24-2 win over (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Patriots improve to 14-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Anna Lobbezoo led the way for UC with four goals, six points and six draw controls. The senior also netted her 200
th career goal making her the fourth Pats player to reach that mark.
Ashlee Baker tallied three goals and three assists in the game, while
Emma Rittman netted four goals. The freshman trio of
Allison Joines,
Christina Carter, and
Lenora DeVries combined for nine goals and 10 draw controls.
Cumberlands dominated the possession throughout the game and got goals from Lobbezoo, Baker, and Rittman to take a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The two teams traded goals before Baker connected with
Jennifer Barnica for a goal making it 5-1 with 4 :43 remaining. UC added man-up goals from Joines and Carter to take the 7-1 lead after the first quarter.
The Patriots opened the second quarter with a goal before
Audrey Donaldson found a cutting DeVries for a goal extending the lead to 9-1. UC closed out the half with three unanswered goals capped off with
Tess Lisy finding Joines in the closing minute of the half making it 13-2.
UC outshot Tennessee Wesleyan 20-1 in the second half with outscoring the Bulldogs 11-0. The Patriots had nine different players net goals in over the final 30 minutes of play, including
Kendall Doran for the 24-2 final.
Cumberlands returns to the field Saturday, April 4
th, when they return home to face Montreat. UC will honor their 2026 senior class prior to the game with first draw set for 3 p.m.
