ASHVILLE, NC – The University of the Cumberlands women's track & field team competed across multiple meets this weekend, highlighted by a pair of NAIA standard performances and several strong efforts on the track and in the field.
Lee Fast Break Athletics Invitational
Lea Kunstmann delivered the top performance of the weekend, winning the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:46.79. The mark smashed the NAIA A standard and currently stands as one of the top-two times in the NAIA this season.
In the 1500 meters,
Elisa Helferich led the Patriots with a personal-best time of 4:51.79.
Heather Durrant followed in 4:58.31, while
Hope Boa clocked 5:00.48 and
Megan Kitchens ran 5:01.02.
Rylee Schaffner added a personal-best 5:08.55, and
Kayleigh Burkhead recorded a personal-best 5:17.54.
In the 5000 meters,
Anslee Crosby posted a time of 19:39.52, while
Tigist Bergman ran 20:24.66.
Asheville Bulldog Invitational
Abia Kante led the Patriots in Asheville, NC with a third-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking a time of 24.48 to hit the NAIA B standard.
MaQuoia Raglin followed with a time of 24.54, while
Ritorion Vigne recorded a personal-best 24.97 and
Allie Bryson ran 26.76.
In the hurdles,
Aliah Laster posted a personal-best time of 15.71 in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the field events,
Kaielle Gray placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.53 meters and also competed in the long jump with a mark of 4.69 meters.
Analei Sarakatsannis recorded a season-best 4.60 meters in the long jump.
Jaci Woods competed in the javelin, recording a personal-best throw of 32.07 meters.
Scots Invitational
In the throws,
Delaney Deaton led the Patriots with a third-place finish in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 38.93 meters.
Kelsie Peavler added a throw of 28.22 meters.
UC will be back tomorrow for the second day at all three meets, looking to build off their hot starts today.
