DANVILLE, Ky. – The University of the Cumberlands women's track & field team competed Friday at the Centre College Twilight, highlighted by a relay victory and solid performances across the track and field events.
Cumberlands opened the meet with a win in the 4x800-meter relay, as
Elisa Helferich,
Grace Nelson,
Megan Kitchens, and
Alex Cundiff combined to run 9:39.00.
Cundiff also led the Patriots in the 800 meters with a runner-up finish in 2:19.72, while
Jasmin Ponce recorded a time of 2:38.02.
Sprint action saw A'yana Gray compete in both the 100 and 200 meters, posting times of 12.82 and 27.23.
Kennedi Riascos followed in the 200 meters with a time of 27.47.
The hurdles group featured
Aliah Laster, who ran 16.39 in the 100-meter hurdles and later posted 1:12.97 in the 400-meter hurdles.That same event saw
Abia Kante place third with a time of 1:06.27, while
Abigail McKamey recorded 1:09.79.
Distance events included
Baylee Black, who ran 5:25.75 in the 1500 meters, and
Chloe Taylor, who posted a time of 19:48.29 in the 5000 meters.
In the throws,
Delaney Deaton led the way with a mark of 39.89 meters in the hammer and added a throw of 34.84 meters in the discus.
Taylor Lunsford recorded 30.22 meters in the hammer, while
Katie Slade posted 30.02 meters in the javelin.
Kelsie Peavler competed in the shot put, recording a mark of 9.87 meters.
In the jumps,
Analei Sarakatsannis recorded marks of 9.72 meters in the triple jump and 1.45 meters in the high jump.
Cumberlands will continue the outdoor season next weekend as the Patriots look to build on their performances.
