Bowling Green, KY – The 2-Seed University of the Cumberlands men's tennis team delivered another dominant performance on Saturday evening, sweeping 3-Seed Bethel (Tenn.) 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference Semifinals at the Warren County Tennis Facility. With the win, the Patriots improve to 16-7 on the season and advance to the MSC Championship match.
Cumberlands took control early by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Jacopo Cianfarini and Mohammed Abuzed Saber led the way with a 6-0 victory at #1 doubles, while Manuel Fernandez Guede and Kesia Roi followed with a 6-1 win at #3 doubles. The #2 doubles match featuring Darius Kuster and Gabriele Solda was left unfinished, tied 3-3, after the Patriots clinched the doubles point.
In singles play, the Patriots continued their strong form, picking up three straight-set victories to close out the match. Kesia Roi put Cumberlands on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6 singles, followed by Thibaud Vivier with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at #4. Jacopo Cianfarini clinched the match for the Patriots at #1 singles, earning a 6-0, 6-4 win.
The remaining matches were halted once the team result was secured, with Darius Kuster, Gabriele Solda, and Mohammed Abuzed Saber all in competitive positions in their respective courts.
With the win, Cumberlands advances on to the Mid-South Conference Championship Match where they will face the 1-Seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) at 6:00 PM CT.
