Williamsburg, KY – The third seeded University of the Cumberlands softball team fell to #2 Keiser University 2-1 in NAIA Opening Round winners bracket action on Tuesday afternoon at the UC Softball Complex. The Patriots move to 38-18 overall and will continue play in the elimination bracket.

Keiser struck first in the second inning, using a two-run home run to take an early 2-0 lead.
Cumberlands responded in the third inning, putting together a three-hit frame. Aniyah White and Maleah Clinton each recorded singles before Emily Delgado drove in White with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Patriots continued to apply pressure offensively, finishing the game with seven hits, including a two-hit performance from Jae Jae Phillips, who went 2-for-3 at the plate. Delgado added a hit and an RBI, while White also recorded a hit and scored the lone run.
Cumberlands put runners on base in multiple innings, including the seventh when the Patriots collected back-to-back singles from Kristen Smith and Phillips, but Keiser was able to hold the one-run advantage.
In the circle, Delgado started and allowed two runs on two hits over 2.0 innings, while Jessica Cord followed with 4.0 scoreless innings, limiting Keiser to three hits and keeping the Patriots within striking distance throughout the game.
Keiser finished with two runs on five hits, with both runs coming in the second inning.
