Silvis, IL - After qualifying for its first national tournament appearance since 2022, the University of the Cumberlands men's golf team wrapped up its season at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run with a 20th-place finish in the 29-team field.

The Patriots earned an at-large berth into the national championship after a strong season that included a fourth-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Championship, marking the program's first appearance at nationals since 2022.

Following the opening 36 holes, the championship field was cut to the top 15 teams and the next six individuals. Pedro Morgado advanced as one of the six individual qualifiers and delivered a standout finish over the final two rounds.

Morgado concluded the tournament tied for 27th overall with a four-round total of 293 (+13). After opening with rounds of 73 (+3) and 72 (+2), Morgado battled through an 80 (+10) in round three before producing one of the top rounds of the tournament on the final day with a 68 (-2).

Entering the fourth round tied for 56th, Morgado made a massive jump up the leaderboard behind a spectacular back nine that featured eagles on holes 10 and 17. He finished the week with 10 birdies and two eagles.

Colby Johnson narrowly missed advancing past the cut after carding rounds of 72 (+2) and 76 (+6). Eli Fischer posted scores of 78 (+8) and 78 (+8), while Alexei Butchart turned in rounds of 78 (+8) and 80 (+10).

Thomas White rounded out the Patriots lineup and showed improvement in round two, shaving nine strokes off his opening-round score after posting an 84 (+14) and 75 (+5).

The national championship appearance capped off another strong season for the Patriots as the program continued its rise on the national stage with its return to the NAIA's premier event.
