Athens, AL – The #22 University of the Cumberlands Men's Golf team opened the 2026-27 season in impressive fashion, capturing the team title at the FireHawk Fall Invitational at Canebrake Golf Club. The Patriots finished the three-round tournament at 852 (-12) to earn their first tournament win of the season.

The Patriots placed four golfers inside the top 11 individually, led by Isaac Jones, who tied for second overall with a three-round total of 212 (-4). Jones entered the final round at two-under before firing a 70 (-2) on Tuesday, recording five birdies during his closing round.

Colby Johnson followed with a strong finish of his own, tying for fifth at 214 (-2). Johnson saved his best round for last, carding a team-low 69 (-3) in the final round with four birdies.

Pablo Lopez Martin gave the Patriots their third top-10 finisher, tying for ninth at 215 (-1). Lopez Martin closed the tournament with a 71 (-1), highlighted by three birdies in the final round.

Thomas White finished just outside the top 10, tying for 11th with an even-par total of 216. White entered Tuesday at two-under before carding a final-round 74 (+2).

Rounding out the Patriots lineup was Saran Jantratit, who tied for 14th at 217 (+1). Jantratit posted a 73 (+1) in the final round, collecting three birdies on Tuesday.

Cumberlands also had three golfers compete individually. Radney Bales matched Jantratit's 217 (+1) to finish tied for 14th after closing with a 73 (+1). Jose Vidal tied for 18th with a three-round total of 218 (+2), finishing the tournament with a 75 (+3). Alex Bennett also competed individually and carded a 78 (+6) during the final round.

The Patriots were consistent throughout the tournament, posting their best team scores over the final two rounds to pull away from the field. UC's 852 (-12) secured the tournament championship by 11 strokes over host UT Southern, which finished runner-up at 863 (-1).

Faulkner and Johnson University tied for third at +3, while Bethel (Tenn.) rounded out the top five at +11.

The Patriots return to action October 5-6 at the Music City Collegiate.
