Before returning to UC, Poe spent the 2024-25 season as the Pitching Coach at Reinhardt University, where he guided the Eagles to a program-record 3.52 team ERA.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Poe attended Bellarmine University, where he was a member of the 2019 GLVC Championship team. During the summer of 2018, he pitched for the Southern Ohio Copperheads of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. He graduated from Lexington Catholic High School in 2014.
Poe began his collegiate coaching career as the Pitching Coach at Iowa Wesleyan University before spending the 2019-20 season at NJCAA powerhouse Indian Hills Community College. He then served as Pitching Coach at Oakland City University before joining the Patriots' staff in 2021. After three successful seasons at Cumberlands, he spent one season at Reinhardt before returning to Williamsburg in the summer of 2025.
Throughout his coaching career, Poe has helped develop six affiliated professional players while coaching 13 additional professional players. His pitching staffs have also produced record-setting performances, including a program-record 608 strikeouts at Cumberlands in 2024 and Reinhardt's program-record 3.52 team ERA in 2025.
Poe has been a part of five conference championships, including the 2022 Mid-South Conference Tournament title, the 2023 and 2024 Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament championships, and the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season championship. He has also helped lead his teams to two NAIA World Series appearances in 2023 and 2024.
Poe earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Sports Administration from Bellarmine University in 2019 and his master's degree in Human Health and Performance from the University of the Cumberlands in 2023.
Poe resides with his wife Katie and their daughter Adeline.
