2012/2013: Was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor's Society.

2011/2012: Was named to the University's Dean's List and was Academic All-Conference. During the summer he played for the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the WMBL. The team won the Western Division while Donovan had a 5-1 record with an 3.50 ERA. He also threw a no-hitter against the Edmonton Prospects.

2010/2011: Attended University of the Cumberlands and was a member of the varsity baseball team. He posted a 2-2 record pitching 24.1 innings. Was anmed to the University's Dean's List. Played summer ball for the Slippery Rock Sliders in the Prospect League. Had 42 strikeouts in 40 innings of work.

2009/2010: Attended Central Memorial High School. Graduated with highest honors for having a 4.0 grade point average and was rewarded the Rutherford Scholarship. During the summer he played for the Calgary Redbirds compiling an 8-3 record, pitching in 15 games with 4 complete games and 1 save, and he had 80 strikeouts.
