Coach Donahue just concluded his fourth season as an Assistant Coach for the University of the Cumberlands. Donahue was hired just prior to the 2018 season and has worked with the offensive line. Prior to the start of the 2021 season, Coach Donahue was elevated to co-offensive coordinator in addition to his role with the offensive line.
Under his direction, the Patriots offensive line has been one of the strong units on the field protecting the quarterback, while creating running lanes for their backs. The line protected for Milton Shelton, the 2018 MSC Offensive Player of the Year, and Martize Smith, the 2019 MSC Freshman of the Year. In addition to that, the Patriots offensive line has accounted for nine all-conference selections over the past four years, including four-time selection Jackson Norton. After helping UC reach the postseason in 2018, Matthew Castner was a NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.
Coach Donahue comes to UC after a 28 year tenure at Harlan High School. He compiled 138 wins in 24 seasons as the Head Football Coach with three district titles. Several of his former players moved on to play collegiate football including former UC standouts Frank Shope and Coach Matt Rhymer.
Prior to coaching, Coach Donahue graduated from Harlan High School in 1982 and University of the Cumberlands (Cumberland College) in 1987. He is a proud graduate of the History Department here at UC.
