Assistant Coach Will Orbin completed his second season as the Patriots offensive line coach after being hired during the spring 2023. Orbin brings a vast knowledge of football to UC with over 20 years of experience.
In his second season, the Patriots went 5-5 and 2-4 in MSC play. UC's offense averaged 311 yards per game and the o-line helped UC rush for 138.9 yards per game as well. The line gave up just 15 sacks all year. Coach Orbin had one All-Conference honoree in left guard, Nick Buzzell. Orbin and the Patriots took down #24 Lindsey Wilson for the first time in 11 years.
In his first season, the Patriots went 6-4 and averaged just under 150 rushing yards per game. Coach Orbin utilized his o-line and the run game a ton during the year, finishing with over 400 rushing attempts and 15 rushing TD's. UC had six rushing TD's in their season opener against KCU and found the endzone four times from the ground against Faulkner. Orbin finished with two All-Conference honorees including Darius James, the teams leading running back, and Curtis Leflore Jr. who was a TE on the o-line.
Prior to Cumberlands, Orbin spent the 2022-2023 football season as the Tight Ends coach at Elon University, where he helped lead the team to a successful season. At Elon he mentored two freshman TEs (John Carlos Miller II and Cody Hardy ) that played a vital part in Elon success in 2022. Elon finished the season 8-4, advanced to FCS playoffs and finished ranked 18
th in the nation.
Prior to Elon, Orbin spent three seasons as the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive line Coach at Barton College. There Orbin was part of the program's inaugural coach in 2019 and prepared the program to begin play in the spring of 2021. In their second season of competition, Barton went 6-5 in NCAA DII, including a 26-20 overtime victory over eighth-ranked Wingate.
Coach Orbin has spent the last decade coaching offense at the collegiate level after serving as a head coach at several high schools.
Orbin played at Waynesburg College (University) after being injured he moved into a student-assistant role with Offensive Line. Orbin transferred and earned his bachelor’s degree in history from North Carolina State in 2000 and post-baccalaureate certification in special education from Georgia in 2008. He and his wife Brandi have twins, Regan and Benjamin.
