Zach Weidman

Zach Weidman is entering his second season on the men's soccer coaching staff ahead of the 2021 season as a graduate assistant.

Weidman is in charge of the goalkeepers at UC and helped guide them to one of the most successful seasons between the posts. The team recorded nine shutouts, seventh most in the NAIA and the team had 14 wins on the season, the most since 2010. Akililu Zambataro, earned NAIA All-American status as a goalkeeper as well as First Team All-Conference both of which are the first of his career.

Collegiately, Weidman played in the NAIA at Spring Arbor University. A native to Concord, Michigan, he played four seasons with the Cougars and had a 6-1-1 record as a goalkeeper. While at Spring Arbor, Weidman was the team’s NAIA Champion of Character nominee, as well as served on the Student Athlete Advisory Council.

Weidman also spent time with the Lansing Rush, going unbeaten as a starter in the Midwest Regional League.

Weidman gained experience from many premier coaches during his career. At Spring Arbor, he had a .833 win percentage under Nathan Miller, an assistant for USL Championship team San Diego Loyal SC. While with the Rush, Weidman learned from the likes of Michigan State goalkeeper coach Paul Gilbert and now professional keeper for FC Cincinnati Jimmy Hague.

His coaching career began in 2014 as a goalkeeper coach for Jackson Christian high school women’s team. Under his tutelage, one keeper received an off from the defending NAIA National Champions. Weidman also serves as an instructor for CLJ Soccer Training, an organization run by British Virgin Islands national team member Lewis Jones.
