Coach Emily Waldroup is concluding her first season as the assistant coach with the Patriots after joining the Patriots in summer of 2019.

During her first year at UC the Patriots went 8-0 in a shorten season and climbed to #2 in the NAIA Top 10 Poll.  Four of Cumberlands eight wins came against teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the national poll, including a 16-11 win over #2 Benedictine in what turned out to be the final game of the season.  Cumberlands had six players earned MSC Player of the Week honors, while earning NAIA National Player of the Week honors twice.

Prior to joining UC, Waldroup, a Fayetteville, GA native, spent four years playing at Tennessee Wesleyan.  While playing midfielder for the Bulldogs, Waldroup recorded 119 goals, 16 assists, and 135 points over her four year career, including netting 37 goals during the 2018 season.  Waldroup also notched 153 draw controls and 104 ground balls during her time with the Bulldogs.

During her time at Tennessee Wesleyan Waldrop was a two-time AAC First Team All-Conference selection in 2017 and 2019, while earning Second Team All-Conference recognition in 2018.

“I’m excited to join Cumberlands and to help with the lacrosse team,” said Waldroup. “Coach Buikus has built an amazing program and I’m thankful for the opportunity to coach alongside her.”

Waldroup excelled in the classroom at Tennessee Wesleyan, graduating in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Professions.

Waldroup is currently pursuing her MBA at Cumberlands.
