Ivan Martin recorded a career-high six saves but the University of the Cumberlands men's soccer team fell to 11
th-ranked Lindsey Wilson College 7-0. With the loss the Patriots fall to 7-6-3 overall and 3-3 in Mid-South Conference play and the Blue Raiders improve to 10-2 and 6-0 in conference.
Lindsey Wilson netted their first goal off a corner kick by Mutaya Mwape that was headed in by Andres Riquelme in the 11' minute to put the Blue Raiders up 1-0.
Joel Drewery looked for the equalizer, but his shot would go wide to keep Lindsey Wilson ahead by one.
Smith Pepper and the Patriot backline were able limit the Blue Raiders attack till the 39' minute when Tyler Collishaw found Franck Bikoya, who was able to put a well-placed shot inside the left post from 14 yards away to give Lindsey Wilson the 2-0 lead. The Blue Raiders netted another goal with 22 seconds left in the half to be go up 3-0 at half.
Lindsey Wilson continued their offensive attack in the second half as the Blue Raiders netted three unanswered goals within the first 13' minutes to extend their lead to 6-0. Martin made four of his six second half saves in a 12 minute span the keep the score 6-0 with 3:52 remaining. The score stayed that way until the 88' minute Lindsey Wilson recorded a goal for the 7-0 final.
The Patriots will return to action Saturday, October 28, when they host Georgetown College for Senior Day. The game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. live video is available
