Sumter, SC – A trio of Patriots were responsible for a bulk of the scoring as UC would finish their weekend trip to South Carolina with a 69-63 victory over Morris College, earning their fifth straight victory of the young season. The win pushed the Patriot ladies to 5-1 overall.
UC jumped out front in the first quarter to a 17-10 lead, but would give up a bit of that lead at the break as they led 34-30 at halftime. Cumberlands would engender their lead again in the third quarter and would hold off Morris late to earn the six point win.
Alani Fisher led the way for UC with 23 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Cheyenne Madden tabbed another double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
Jasmine Rhodes pitched in as well with 13 points and five rebounds.
The Patriots shot just under 50% as a team while Morris shot just over 41% from the field. The Hornets were led by Alicia McIver with 15 points on the night.
The Patriots now have a week before they take the court at home on Saturday, November 25th as they host the Bearcats of Brescia University. Tip-off is set for 2 pm. You can catch all the action live on the UC Sports Network as
Brandon Hensley will have the call.
