Inclement Weather Forces Changes to the MSC Tennis Tournament

Bowling Green, KY – Jennifer Philpot (SR/Cincinnati, OH) and Megan Ganser (SR/Waterloo, WI) were named First Team All-Conference, while two players received Second Team All-Conference honors for the University of the Cumberlands, announced Thursday night at the Mid-South Conference women's volleyball banquet.

Megan Jackson (SO/Sevierville, TN) and Jessica Severs (JR/Powell, TN) each earned second team all-conference recognition. Severs was also the recipient of the MSC Champions of Character Award.

Philpot had an outstanding season, both offensively and defensively. Philpot led the Patriots with 323 kills and tallied 325 digs this season and recorded 16 double-doubles. These achievements placed her at seventh in the MSC in kills and in digs per set (3.6). She also tallied 24 service aces for the Patriots. Philpot had a career achievement this season with 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs, which she achieved on October 6 against Union. Philpot was also named as attacker of the week three times for the MSC.

Ganser has been a tough competitor for the Patriots while leading in total blocks at 110 (27 solo and 83 assisted). She was second in total blocks and third in blocks per set (1.0) for the MSC. Ganser also had an impressive 222 kills which ranked her at 16 in the MSC.

Jackson played all 29 matches. Jackson contributed to the Patriots with 157 kills, 38 digs, and 63 blocks (18 solo and 45 assisted). She was sixteenth amongst the MSC in total blocks and blocks per set (0.6). Jackson also achieved her career game high of eight blocks this season.

Severs played all 29 matches for the Patriots this season. Severs was third amongst the team in kills (192) and blocks (50). Severs contributed offensively 11 service aces and defensively with 103 digs. Severs ranks ninth amongst MSC rivals in hitting percentage at 0.224.

Severs was also honored with the Mid-South Conference's Champions of Character award.  This award is centered on her academic and athletic success, campus and community leadership, future aspirations and demonstration of five core character values of the NAIA which are respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.

The Patriots will take the court at the Mid-South Conference quarterfinals in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Cumberlands will face fifth-seed Life University on Thursday, November 10, at 3:30 p.m. EST.
