Three Tennis Players Named Daktronics Scholar Athletes

Kansas City, Missouri – The University of the Cumberlands tennis teams had three student-athletes named NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athletes, announced by the national office Friday.

Daniel Butcher (JR/Williamsburg, KY) and Kenny Wilson (SR/Bowling Green, KY) garnered this honor from the men's tennis team, while Paula Nieto (JR/Bogota, Columbia) earned this distinction for the women's tennis team.  There was 109 men's tennis players and 147 women's tennis players that earned this honor.

The men's tennis team finished the season with a 6-15 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The women's tennis team went 16-9 overall and were the Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament runners up. The Patriots advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in program history and earned their first tournament win.

To be nominated, the student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and must have achieved junior academic status.
