LeMaster’s Hat Trick; Moses’ Shutout Lead Patriots to 4-0 Victory

Montreat, NC – Jody LeMaster netted a hat trick, while Samantha Moses made seven saves to led the University of the Cumberlands Women's Soccer Team to a 4-0 win over Brewton-Parker Monday afternoon at Pulliam Stadium/Howard Fisher Memorial Field.  With the win the Patriots improve to 3-1 while the Barons fall to 0-4.

The Patriots were in control of the game right from the start as Shelby Little took the first shot of the contest, six minutes in.  The game remained scoreless until the 12th minute when Emily Willoughby found LeMaster for a goal to give UC the early 1-0 lead.  Just over a minute later, the Willoughby-LeMaster duo connected again for a goal to extend the Patriots lead to 2-0. LeMaster scored an unassisted goal at the 26:38 mark of the first half to complete her second career hat trick and give Cumberlands the 3-0 lead.  UC added an unassisted goal from Willoughby in the 30' minute to extend their lead to 4-0.  Late in the first half, Brewton-Parker looked to cut into the led as Sidney Wilkinson put a pair of shots on frame, but Moses made two saves to keep the score 4-0 at the break.

It was an even second half as both teams tallied seven shots.  Willoughby looked to extend UC's lead as she fired three shots on goal, but couldn't convert keeping the score 4-0. Moses, making her first start since November 5, 2015, made four of her seven saves in the half to keep Brewton-Parker off the scoreboard for the 4-0 final.  Ashlyn Walloch

The seven saves are the second most in Moses' career and the win marks her first shutout since October 31, 2015, when the Patriots defeated Shawnee State 3-0. LeMaster has now netted four goals on the season, while Willoughby recorded a career-high four points in the win.

The Patriots will return to action Friday, September 8, when they face travel to Lawrenceville, GA to face Georgia Gwinnett.  The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. and live video is available here, while live stats are available here.
