Seniors Shine as Patriots Defeats Tigers on Senior Day

Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots' seniors combined for a goal and two assists to lead the 24th-ranked UC women's soccer team (15-1-1, MSC 5-0-1)  to a 5-2 win over Campbellsville Saturday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex. Jody LeMaster dished out a season-high two assists, while Shelby Little netted her fourth goal of the season in the win.
 
Campbellsville came out looking to get on the board early taking two shots and three corner kicks in the first ten minutes of the contest, but were unsuccessful. UC looked to get on the board first, taking three shots, but were unable to convert. The game remained scoreless until the 33' minute when LeMaster passed the ball up to Sabria Glasgow, who fired a shot from inside the 18 yard box around the goal keeper to give the Patriots a 1-0 led. Cumberlands looked to extend their lead as Alanna Skinner deflected the ball to Sara Randez, who put a lob shot off the goalies hands and into the back of the net pushing the Pats led to 2-0, 40 second later. Before the end of the half the Patriots took seven shots looking for their third goal, however took the 2-0 led into the half.
 
Five minutes into the second half, Skinner found Emily Willoughby, who made a great shot for her first goal of the season giving UC a 3-0 advantage. Three minutes later, the Tigers get on the board as Rachel McWilliams sent a corner kick into the box and found Molly Hall for the header to cut the lead to 3-1. For the next twenty minutes Campbellsville and Cumberlands trades possessions and shots but neither team able to convert. In the 74' minute, LeMaster pushed the ball forward to Little, who put a lob shot into the upper left corner of net to extend UC's lead to 4-1. Four minutes later, the Patriots were called for a foul in the box and Campbellsivlle Lakin Walls converted a penalty kick to cut the deficit to 4-2. In the final five minutes of the game, Glasgow deflected a pass and found Hannah Truckenmiller for the goal to give the Patriots the 5-2 win.
 
Senior Christie Funk tallied four saves to earn her 15th win of the season. LeMaster extends her point streak to seven straight matches, while Skinner tallied her second multi-assist game of the season.  Glasgow also finished with three points in the win.
 
Cumberlands returns to the pitch for their final regular season game against Cumberland University on Wednesday, October 24. Kickoff is set for 4:30. Live stats are available here and live video here.
