Williamsburg, KY – UC Women's Soccer defeated the University of Pikeville Bears (2-10, MSC 0-2) by a score of 3-0 to Saturday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex. With the win the Patriots improve to 11-0-1 overall (2-0-1 MSC) as fourth year head coach Steve Hamilton garners his first 11 win season as a Patriot coach.
 
The Patriots took control right from the opening kick-off. Alanna Skinner took UC's first shot as Erica Burkhardt made a diving save to keep the game scoreless. UC continued their strong offensive performance maintaining possession of the ball most of the first half. Skinner notched her first collegiate goal in the 31' minute launching the ball from 20 yards out and placing it over the goalies head for the 1-0 led. Six minutes later, Skinner took a corner kick and found Hannah Truckenmiller in the box for a goal to extend the Patriots led to 2-0. UC controlled possession until the half.
 
Less than 30 seconds into the second half, Sara Randez drilled a shot into the upper left corner to give the Pats a 3-0 lead. Three goals would be all the Cumberlands needed to secure the win. The rest of the half was similar to the first half, as UC remained in control.
 
Skinner notched her eighth assist on the season. Truckenmiller scored her fifth goal in the contest and Randez notched her ninth goal of the season. In the net Christie Funk and Jacquelyn Seymour combined for UC's seventh shutout of the season.
 
UC returns to action as they travel to Portsmouth, OH on Tuesday, October 9 as they take on the Shawnee State Bears with a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.
