Patriots Soar Past Falcons 99-55

Williamsburg, KY – The 16th-ranked UC men's basketball team had two players notch career-high in points, while three Patriots dished out career-highs in assists to lead UC to a 99-55 win over Simmons College Tuesday night in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. With the win the Patriots improve to 8-2 overall, while the Falcons fall to 0-3.

The two teams traded buckets over the opening minutes of the game keeping the score even at 5-5, before UC went on an 8-0 run to take a 13-5 lead with 16:02 left.  Simmons cut the lead to five points, however Anthony Eaves hit from long range, while Danny Butt found Bri'an Brown for a dunk to extend the lead to 22-12.  Brown and Chance Edwards combined seven of UC's next 11 points to give Cumberlands a 33-14 advantage with 5:02 remaining in the first half.  Both teams recorded eight points over the final five minutes of the half giving the Patriots a 41-22 lead at the break.

Cumberlands strong shooting continued in the second half as UC opened the second half on an 18-2 run, including UC getting 13 straight from Caleb Taylor to put the Patriots in front 59-24 five minutes in.  The teams traded baskets over the next six minutes, until Edwards drained back-to-back field goals to push the lead to 71-34 with 8:36 left.  Taylor, Butt, Austin Hall, and Nnamdi Van Dulm combined for Cumberlands next 16 points to give UC an 87-48 advantage.  Edwards tallied ten of UC's final 12 points to finish with a career-high 18 points and give the Patriots the 99-55 win.

UC finished the game with 60 points in the paint and shot 54.7% from the field.

Taylor led the way for UC with a career-high 24 points and seven rebounds, while Butt dished out a career-high seven assists, seven rebounds, and eight points.  Jahi Hinson tallied seven points, seven rebounds and six assists, as Van Dulm chipped in six points and six assists.
