Patriots Pull Away in Second Half for 84-49 Win

Williamsburg, KY – The 16th-ranked UC Men's Basketball started the second half on a 27-6 run en route to an 84-49 win over Lindenwood-Belleville Monday night at the O. Wayne Rollins Center. With the win the Patriots improve to 3-1, while Lynx drop to 0-2.

 The game started with the two teams trading buckets giving Lindenwood-Belleville a 5-4 lead.  Anthony Eaves and Caleb Taylor recorded back-to-back field goals putting UC ahead 8-5, five minutes into the game.  The Lynx went on a 13-6 run, over a six-minute span, to retake the lead 18-14.  Cumberlands tied the game at 19-19 before retaking the lead 23-22 on a Bri'an Brown put back.  Just over a minute later, the Patriots extended their lead as Jordan Griggs hit from behind-the-arc to give UC a 29-24 lead with 3:46 remaining.  After the teams traded buckets, Griggs completed a four-point play to give the Patriots a 37-28 lead.  Griggs added another three-pointer as time expired to put UC ahead 40-29 at the break.

Cumberlands strong shooting continued in the second half as Griggs tallied five of UC's first six points to make it 47-33.  Malik Colvin-Seldon scored seven straight points as part of a 12-0 run which extended the lead to 59-33.  After a Lynx basket, UC scored 12 unanswered, including four from Colvin-Seldon to put the Patriots ahead 70-35 with 10:04 remaining.  Just over two minutes later Austin Hall sank his first collegiate basket to extend the lead to 38.  Chance Edwards recorded UC's next seven points as the Patriots extended their lead to 82-41 with 4:45 remaining.  The Lynx tallied eight of the final ten points for the 84-49 final.

Colvin-Seldon led the way for the Patriots with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Griggs added 17 points.  Brown chipped in ten points and five rebounds.  Nnamdi Van Dulm dished out a team-high four assists to go along with nine points, both of which were career-highs.  Cumberlands had eight different players grab at least four rebounds in the game.

UC returns to action on Friday, November 9, as they travel to Dalton, GA to take part MSC/SSAC Classic. The Patriots take on Faulkner at 5 p.m., before facing Dalton State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
