Men’s Tennis Falls to Top-Ranked Georgia Gwinnett

Box Score Lawrenceburg, GA – The UC men's tennis team went up against the defending NAIA champion and fell 9-0 Monday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Complex.  With the win Grizzly improve to 19-0, while the Patriots move to 1-6 overall.

Georgia Gwinnett jumped out to a quick start earning points at #1 and #3 doubles.  At #2 doubles, Yusuke Matsouka and Martin Barbier recorded four points against Gilad Berman and Ayed Zatar but dropped the match 8-4, giving the Grizzly a 3-0 lead.

The Grizzly won all six singles matches in straight set for the 9-0 final.  The Patriots best opportunity came at #3 singles as Barbier faced Serge Becerra. Barbier traded points and forced a tie-breaker in the first set before ultimately falling 7-6 6-0.  

The Patriots will return to the court Tuesday, March 12, when they stay in Georgia to face NCAA Division II Young Harris.  First serve is set for 2 p.m.
