Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Campbellsville, KY – The UC softball team was overpowered by fourth-ranked Campbellsville 8-0, 8-0  Thursday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium.  With the wins the Tigers improve to 26-4 overall and 9-1 in MSC play, while the Patriots move to 11-19 and 4-6 in conference play.

Sidney Pennycuff got the day started in the circle as she struck out Jaqueline Roof to lead off the game.  The Tigers plated two runs in the inning before Pennycuff recorded another strikeout as Campbellsville jumped out to a 2-0 lead.  Campbellsville extended their lead to 4-0 with a pair of runs in the third.

 In the bottom of the fourth, Pennycuff fanned Jordan Ison to lead off the inning.  That strikeout marked Pennycuff's 100^th strikeout of the season, making her the first UC pitcher since 2014 to reach that feat.  She also is the first freshman since Mindy Breitholle in 2007 to the century mark. Pennycuff added another K before allowing back-to-back hits to give the Tigers a 5-0 advantage.

UC looked to rally in the fifth as Lexi Jones drew a four pitch walk.  Emily Fox followed with a single to center to give the Patriots their first runner in scoring position of the game.  However, the Tigers got out of the inning, keeping Cumberlands scoreless.  Campbellsville added three runs in the bottom of the inning for the 8-0 final.

In the second game, Kailin Yantz led off the game with a single but was unable to score.  Sydney Maynard held the Tigers lineup in check for the first two innings keeping the game scoreless. 

Campbellsville scored four in the third and three in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.  The Tigers plated one in the bottom of the sixth for the 8-0 final. 

Yantz led the way for the Patriots going 2-3, while Shannon Jones and Amber Hiller each recorded a hit.

The Patriots will return to the field Friday, April 6, when they face Campbellsville for a doubleheader with first pitch set for 1 p.m.  Live video will be available here, while live stats are available here.
