Williamsburg, KY – The University of the Cumberlands Women's Soccer Team used three second half goals to defeat Union (2-5) by a score of 3-0 Wednesday night at the UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex. Jenna Rockwell and Sabria Glasgow recorded the goals to help the Patriots improve to 8-1 on the season.
 
The Patriots came out strong outshooting the Bulldogs 22-4 in the first half. Both teams recorded a pair of shots in the first five minutes of play but neither was able to convert keeping the game scoreless. The Patriots controlled the possession and fired off shots over the next 15 minutes but still unable to convert.  The Patriots best opportunity came in the 25^th minute as Rockwell but a shot on frame but Haille Hinthorne made a diving save to prevent the goal and keep the game tied.  Cumberlands tried to take advantage of a goalie change however Victoria Carta recorded a pair of saves to keep the game knotted at 0-0 at the break. 

The Patriots continued controlling the possession and taking shots in the second.  The game remained scoreless until the 51' minute when Emily Willoughby sent a cross into the box, off the keepers hands right to Rockwell, who touched the ball into the back of the net to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead. Cumberlands extended their lead in the 76' minute as Alanna Skinner sent a corner kick into the box, which was deflected off Willoughby's head right to Glasgow for the header into the net, extending the lead to 2-0. Minutes later, Rockwell took a shot 30 yards out and found the upper right side of the net for her second goal of the match, giving the Patriots the  3-0 lead. The Bulldogs tried to cut into the lead however Kristin Meece's shot sailed wide as UC captures the 3-0 win. 
 
Christie Funk tallied two saves in the contest, giving her 16 saves and the Patriots sixth shutout of the season. Rockwell recorded her second multi-goal game of the season, while Glasgow notches her first goal of her career in the match. Willoughby tallies two assists in the contest for her second multi-assist game of her career, while Skinner tallied her fifth assist of the season.
 
Patriots return to action Saturday, September 22 when they travel to Rio Grande, OH to take on the Red Storm of University of Rio Grande. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 pm. Live stats available here, while live video is available here.
