Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Glasgow Scores Twice to Lead Patriots to 2-1 Win

Rio Grande, OH – Four days after recording her first collegiate goal, Sabria Glasgow looked to add to her total as she netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lead the UC women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Rio Grande Saturday night at the Evan Davis Soccer Field.  With the win the Patriots improve to 9-1, while the Red Storm fall to 3-4-1.

Rio Grande looked to jump out to an early lead as Amelia Bragg fired a shot however it deflected off the crossbar keeping the game scoreless.  Christie Funk added a save in the tenth minute before Riley Barrett put UC's first shot on frame but was unable to convert keeping the game tied.  The Patriots outshot the Red Storm 7-1 over the next 15 minutes but neither team was able to get on the scoreboard.  Funk added a pair of saves, which kept Rio Grande off the board.  The game remained scoreless until the 41' minute when Alanna Skinner sent a corner kick into the box to Glasgow, who headed it in for the goal to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.

The Red Storm responded quickly as Payten Davis found Rachel Haddad, who sent a cross from the right wing which deflected off the crossbar and bounced into the goal to tie the game a 1-1 in just over two minutes into the second half.  Cumberlands controlled possession for majority of the second half and looked to retake the lead as they recorded the next six shots but were unable to convert.  In the 75' minute Jody LeMaster sent a shot to the far post, however Kelsie Lee made a diving save, one of 11 on the day to keep the score 1-1.  The game remained tied until the 86' minute when LeMaster pushed the ball forward to Glasgow who found the back of the net to give UC a 2-1 advantage.  The Red Storm look to tie the game in the final minute but Funk made her season-high sixth save to preserve the 2-1 win.

Glasgow led the way for the Patriots with her first career multi-goal game.  Skinner and LeMaster each tallied an assists in the win.  Cumberlands outshot Rio 28-9 in the game and had a 5-2 edge on corner kicks.

The Patriots will return to action Tuesday, September 25, when they travel to Georgetown, KY to face the Tigers in the Mid-South Conference opener.  The game is slated for 6 p.m. with live stats available here.
