MSC Poll
Bowling Green, KY – The UC men's swimming & diving team earned 35 points, including five first-place votes, to be the favorite for the 2019-20 season, announced by the conference office Thursday. The Patriots are looking to successfully defend their MSC crown and capture their third conference title in six years.
UC opened its season with a 161-95 win over Lindsey Wilson last weekend. The Patriots achieved four NAIA "A" cuts and four "B" standards during the meet. Cumberlands returns 13 swimmers from last year's team that placed fourth at the NAIA national championships.
Leading the way for Cumberlands is
Viktor Lyson, who was a six-time NAIA All-American last year, and three-time All-American
John Morgan McDonald. In addition to the returners, UC has added eight newcomers highlighted by
Mikolaj Kala and
Mats Kamnes, who both notched a pair of wins in their collegiate debuts.
Lindsey Wilson earned 29 points, including one first-place vote, to be ranked second, while Loyola is in third with 28 points and a first-place vote. Campbellsville, Life, Bethel, and newcomer Thomas More round out the conference poll.
UC will return to the water Saturday, October 12, when they travel to Barbourville, KY to face Union in a dual meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
