Kansas City, MO – The UC Women's Golf team has gotten off to a great start to the 2019-2020 season. Winning the three tournaments they have taken part in thus far; the Patriots have boosted their own confidence while turning heads around the country. With the first NAIA Top 25 Poll being released on Friday, the Patriots have made a move as they continue to trend upward in the eyes of the pollsters.
Cumberlands garnered 469 total points to jump from #6 to #4 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, national office officials announced. Keiser (FL) received 13 of 19 first-place votes and 524 points to overtake British Columbia, who garnered the final six first-place votes, at the top of the poll while UBC moved to second. SCAD-Savannah would stay at third just in front of UC while Taylor (IN) came in with 460 points to round out the top five.
Two other Mid-South Conference teams earn spots inside the top 25 as Cumberland University comes in at number 12 with 318 points while Lindsey Wilson pulled in 221 points to earn the #18 spot in the poll. Campbellsville also received votes in this week's poll.
Other notable teams in the NAIA Top 25 include Oklahoma City (#6), Dalton State (#7), Milligan (#16), Indiana Tech (#21), and Tennessee Wesleyan (#24). Other teams receiving votes include Grace (IN), Coastal Georgia, Olivet Nazarene (IL), and Truett-McConnell (GA).
The Patriots will look for team victory number four on Monday, October 14th and Tuesday, October 15th as they take part in the Sydney Cox Invitational hosted by Lincoln Park Golf Course and Oklahoma City University.
