Van der Made's Hat-Trick Night Shuts Down Saints, 5-0

Williamsburg, KY – Lining up the penalty kick, Marvin van der Made found the back of the net in the 61st minute to give way to the senior's second hat-trick performance on the season. Three goals and an assist by the man upfront led the Patriots to a 5-0 victory over the Saints of Thomas More.

The six-foot-eight forward was an unstoppable force for the Patriots, continually looking on goal. In the 37th minute, van der Made forced a turnover in the box and subsequently sent it in for the solo score, putting the Patriots up 2-0 going into halftime.

With all the cards already on the table, van der Made tacked yet another goal 54 minutes into the contest to claim his second goal of the night. Joel Drewery offered a long cross for his only assist of the night, finding van der Made in the box who slipped the ball past the opposing keeper.

Van der Made opened his night prior to his goals scored with an assist far into the box under the feet of Milan Stojanovic. The two found a connection for the first time since the season opener, giving the Patriots a 1-0 lead into the 21st minute.

The veteran player out of the Netherlands capped his night wit three goals and an assist, his first hat-trick since his performance at Concordia (MI) earlier this season, also a 5-0 win for the Patriots. Adding on the game against Georgetown, van der Made tallied four goals and three assists this week.

Despite a personnel change replacing nine of the starting 11 late in the game, the Patriots offense continued to flourish with the foot of Sergio Infantes Castell. The junior collected five shot attempts with a netted ball in the 68th minute – assisted by Nathan Seery – to bring the Patriots to their 5-0 margin.

Akililu Zambataro claimed his fourth shutout of the year, adding on top of his impressive matches tallied during the non-conference season. The rookie keeper and his defender kept the Saints to two shots in the entire game, both in the first half and neither on frame.

The Patriots out-shot their opponent 27 to two in the victory, as the Saints were allowed very few touches in the attacking third of the field. The home team dominated time of possession, which paved way to van der Made's three goals on 10 shots attempted and Infantes with one goal on five attempts.

Another UC win in the books boost the men's squad to a 6-4-1 overall record, 2-1 in MSC play. The 5-0 rout over the Saints marks the fourth game this season where the Patriots tallied five or more goals in the match.

The Patriots are now on a two-match win streak ahead of hosting MSC-foe Campbellsville on home turf this Wednesday. Following the women's match, the men look to down the Tigers around 7:30 PM at the UC Soccer Complex.
