Columbia, KY – A late goal effort by men's soccer was not enough to swing momentum of the game back in their favor, as the Patriots fall to the fifth-ranked Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson, 3-1.
 
Alejandro Gonzalez chalked the lone goal of the 90-minute contest. In the 82nd minute, the junior caught the cross from teammate Joel Drewery deep inside the box for the score.
 
With the goal, the Patriots narrowed the margin 2-1 late in the second half. However, the Patriots were unable to convert on four opportunities in the final seven minutes.
 
Gonzalez capitalized for the only Patriots tally on the scoreboard while the Patriots notched eight of 16 shots onto frame. Gonzalez picked up his second goal of the season, his first coming in the win over Georgetown.
 
The Patriots have been held to one goal scored in three straight games, the first and last against ranked opposition.
 
Despite controlling the pace of play for a majority of the contest, the Blue Raiders held the 2-0 edge into halftime with a pair of give-and-go netted balls in the final fifteen minutes. From there, the home team closed the door after the third goal scored with two and a half minutes left in the match.
 
Clement May recorded his third start of his sophomore season, coming away with the loss after allowing both goals. Over the course of action, the returner notched 11 saves to keep the score margin within reach. The Frenchman now has 17 saves on the season.

The Patriots have a day of rest before Senior Day action on home turf. The Patriots will face off against the Pikeville Bears at the UC Soccer Complex on Tuesday, October 28 in a 7:30 PM night game.
