Another Men's Soccer Shutout on Senior Night, 3-0 Win Over Pikeville

Williamsburg, KY – Adding another tally in the win column, Patriots post a 3-0 victory over Pikeville on Senior Night. Cumberlands posted their sixth shutout of the season en route to their fourth Mid-South win.

Leading the Patriot scoring efforts under the lights, Marvin van der Made posted back-to-back scores in the contest. The forward netted both of his shots on goal in his five attempts on the night.

In the 27th minute, van der Made was on the receiving end of a quick pass from Milan Stojanovic across the box, beating the keeper with a shot up the middle.

Nine minutes later, Joel Drewery launched a cross deep in Pikeville territory for van der Made, heading in the goal off the left post. The goal in the 36th minute registered as the senior's 25th career goal with the Patriots.

Stojanovic opened up scoring in the contest with his game-winner coming in the 21st minute. The Patriots utilized quick passing in the box to catch the Bears defense off-guard, as Luis Jara Encina found Stojanovic before the tap in just inside the post.

The Serbian rookie followed van der Made with four shots taken on the night, while Sergio Infantes Castell came off the bench in the second half to also post five shots. The Patriots out-shot the Bears 24-2 on the night.

Cumberlands' back line held tough to allow few offensive opportunities for the Bears, who saw the box on their attacking half a handful of times, including once off a corner. The Patriots meanwhile saw 12 corner kick chances.

Although little work to be done, rookie keeper Akililu Zambataro still came out on top to collect his sixth shutout win of the season. The Italian holds the most saves by a Patriots keeper since Dennis Kramer in 2010. Meanwhile, his seventh win in the books ties him with 2015's Ahmed Ghatwary as the most wins by a first-year goalie.

The Patriots look forward to another chance at a conference win, this one on the road as they close out their regular season at Shawnee State. Cumberlands will match up with the Bears on November 1 in Portsmouth, getting underway around 7:30 PM.
