Box Score Portsmouth, OH – In their regular-season finale, the Patriots notched their ninth win of the season after downing the Shawnee State Bears 5-0 on the road. Cumberlands holds a 9-6-1 overall record, 5-3 in the Mid-South ahead of the tournament.
The Patriots notched five goals from four different personnel on Friday night, meanwhile placing 12 of 24 shots on frame. The back line held the Bears to four shots on frame en route to another shutout on the year.
Marvin van der Made used his head to score early on the Bears in the sixth minute. The senior recorded his third goal of the week after netting two against Pikeville on Tuesday. With his 13th score of the season in the books, the forward also collected his fourth game-winner.
Later,
Luis Jara Encina tacked on the second Patriot goal of the night in the 17th minute, tapping in the rebounded save. Jara collected the sixth goal of his freshman campaign.
The Patriots saw four corner opportunities on the night, converting on one.
Nemanja Jovanovic provided Cumberlands with the 3-0 lead before halftime, using his head as well to find the back of the net. The Serbian registered his first goal of the year in the season finale.

Marvin van der Made doubled up for the second time this week,
Nathan Seery rounded out the Patriots scoring efforts in the five-goal affair, netting his only shot on frame of the night for his second of the season. Prior to Friday night's in the 77th minute, the sophomore noted one in the game against Georgetown earlier this year.
Friday was the fifth time of the season the Patriots hit the five goals scored mark.
Akililu Zambataro paved way to the Patriots seventh shutout of the season, the most of any Patriot since Dennis Kramer in 2010 (eight). The Italian cleanly saved four shots of 12 faced to earn his eighth win of the year, most by a first-year keeper since Alonzo Jiminez in 2006 (14).
UC wrapped up their 2019 campaign with an overall record of 9-6-1, meanwhile 5-3 in conference play. This year's line-up proved to be the winningest of head coach
Chris LeFevre's tenure with the Patriots.
The Patriots press pause and await the Mid-South Tournament seeding and schedule as the conference finishes up the regular season contests on Saturday. The MSC Tournament will begin Saturday, November 9 at Warren East High School in Bowling Green, KY.
The win secured the number-three seed for the Patriots ahead of the tournament, who will likely battle Cumberland again in the quarterfinals. The Phoenix claimed the regular-season bout in a 3-1 contest.
