Cumberlands Sits In Second Mid-South Conference President’s Cup Standings

Bowling Green, KY – After a successful fall season, which saw three teams advance to the NAIA National Championships, the University of the Cumberlands earned 47.5 points to be in striking distance of the Mid-South Conference President's Cup standings, announced by the conference office Friday. The Patriots are ranked second on both the men's and women's All-Sports Standings.

The Patriots earned 24.5 points on the men's side, while receiving 23 points on the women's side to sit 3.5 points behind front-runner Lindsey Wilson.  Cumberlands fall season has been highlight by a trio of runner-up finishes in their respective sport.  

UC football led the way on the men's side earning nine points after their runner-up finish in the Bluegrass division.  Cumberlands posted a 10-2 record en route to back-to-back trips to the NAIA Championships Series.  UC also made program history with there first road playoff win in program history.  Men's cross country earned eight points for their third place finish, while men's soccer notched 7.5 points after finishing tied for third with Campbellsville.

Patriots women's soccer and cross country led the way for Cumberlands as they both received nine points for their second-place finish in the conference standings.  UC soccer went 7-1 in conference play and finished the year with a 15-4-1 record after posting their first NAIA tournament win in program history.  The women's cross country team finished runner at the conference championships, while volleyball earned five points.

Lindsey Wilson is tied atop the overall standings with 50 points.  Cumberland is in third in overall standings with 39.5 points, while Campbellsville is fourth with 38.5 points.

The winter edition of the President's Cup standings will be announced in March, while the overall winner will be announced at the MSC meeting in June.
