Williamsburg, KY – On the heels of an incredible week in Patriots athletics, softball MaKenzie Henderson and baseball Pedro Vasquez have earned Pepsi Athletes of the Week honors, the athletic department announced Monday. 
 
MaKenzie Henderson earned Athlete of the Week honors after helping Cumberlands reach the finals of the MSC Tournament.  On the week, Henderson hit .455 with a double and four RBI.  She opened the week going 2-3 with three RBIs in UC's win over Campbellsville.  The senior doubled in the third inning bringing home the go-ahead run making it 5-4, before notching the game winning hit in the seventh as the Pats earned the walk-off win.  Henderson added a hit in each of UC's next three games, including an RBI single in the first inning against Lindsey Wilson. 
 
Pedro Vasquez earned Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Patriots with a .409 average to go along with six RBI and three homers.  Against Freed-Hardeman Vasquez hit a single in the second inning, before walking in the sixth and coming around to score giving UC a 4-2 lead.  He followed that up going 2-3 with a homer, four runs scored and a pair of RBI's against Campbellsville.  Vasquez blasted a two-run shot to right center giving UC the 2-1 lead.  He scored runs in the 3^rd, 4^th, 8^th, and 9^th innings as UC earned the 13-6 win to fend off elimination.  The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native went 3-4 with a double and solo homer against Bethel helping the Patriots advance to the championship game.  In the two games against the Phoenix, Vasquez went 3-8 with three RBI's and a pair of runs scored as Cumberlands captured the MSC Tournament title.
