Williamsburg, KY – After seeing themselves struggle over the past few weeks to put a complete game together in Mid-South Conference play, the Patriots would successfully come away with a win over Life University on Thursday. On Saturday, UC would put together another one of those games as they would overpower and overmatch the Cougars of Carver College by a score of 61-28, improving the Patriots to 14-14 on the year.
 
The Patriots began the game on a 10-2 run over the first seven minutes which included five points from Shayla Simpson. She would add a free throw in the last minutes as UC lead 11-2 at the end of one. UC continued to push the ball as they would extend the lead to as much as 17 in the quarter before leading 30-14 at the half.
 
The third quarter was one of the more impressive quarters that Cumberlands has played all season, outscoring the Cougars 18-3 to give themselves a 48-17 lead entering the fourth. The Patriots' largest lead would extend to 38 with three minutes left before winning the contest by 33.
 
Twelve different players would score in the contest for Cumberlands led by Shayla Simpson with 13 points off the bench. UC shot 35.1% from the floor and 36.8% from beyond the arc while going 14-20 from the charity stripe. The Patriots out-rebounded the Cougars 43-28 and scored 34 points off the bench in the victory.
 
UC returns to action on Thursday, February 16^th as they host Lindsey Wilson College for Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 6 pm with senior day festivities to be held before tip-off.
