Bowling Green, KY – University of the Cumberlands men's tennis player
Martin Barbier has garnered the first Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference office Monday. Barbier notched a pair of points in Cumberlands 5-2 season opening win over Lincoln Memorial.
Barbier teamed with
Eric Banoub at #1 doubles to defeated Sebastian Colla and Fabian Sjokvist 6-4 to help UC wins the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match. The reigning NAIA first team All-American, follow that up with a 6-4, 6-4 win at #1 singles over David Segarra to extend the Patriots lead to 3-0 en route to the 5-2 final.
This marks the third time in his career that Barbier earned this recognition.
The Patriots will return to the court Saturday, February 9, to face Young Harris in their home opener. The match is slated for 12 p.m. at the UC Tennis Court.
