Bowling Green, KY – Nicolas Grandperrin tabbed his first career Mid-South Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, as announced by the conference office, after tallying two national marks over the weekend. Competing in a field of high-caliber Division I athletes at the Camel City Invitational, Grandperrin proved he was a force to be reckoned with.
 
Grandperrin started his stellar weekend in the mile where he raced a 4:15.29-finish, moving him a large margin in the NAIA rankings to fourth, and second in the MSC. He took advantage of the tough competition at the JDL Fast Track to help him cross the finish with a career best and NAIA "A" standard. The junior placed 12^th in a field of 70 runners through the eight-lap affair.
 
The France-native kept momentum into the evening, taking his talents to the 1,000 meters. Grandperrin took charge of the 18-runner field, placing second overall and top-NAIA performer. Pacing 2:30.92 through the finish, the junior's "A" cut jumped to sixth in the NAIA performance charts. In addition to ranking atop conference rankings for the event, Grandperrin's new career best is currently the only time in the MSC clocking a national standard in the 1,000 meter run.
 
Grandperrin tallied his first men's track athlete of the week honors of his career after Cumberlands tabbed the award for the second straight week. He follows teammates Demarius Smith, who garnered the award twice this season, and Lucas Huelvan.
 
Grandperrin and the Patriots track team resumes competition on Monday, February 11 at the MSC Indoor Championships. UC looks to sweep the field and take their second-straight indoor championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
