Webb Tops Mid-South Conference Weekly Honors

3/18/2019 2:15:00 PM

Bowling Green, KY – Two no-hitters by Jessica Webb paved way to her first Mid-South Pitcher of the Week honors of her Patriots career, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Through 13.0 innings pitched, the sophomore-transfer tabbed 11 strikeouts in the shutouts.

The Anderson County, TN product tabbed the first Patriots no-hitter since Whitney Piar delivered a complete game against Alice Lloyd on March 6, 2008. In addition to the first no-hitters of the Dillender coaching era, Webb marked the first time in Patriots history a pitcher penned no-hitters in consecutive appearances in the circle.

Through the course of the past week, Webb dropped 11 batters to strikeouts, including four looking and seven swinging. The sophomore went 13 consecutive hitless innings, now sitting on a two-game win-streak.

In her first game of the week against Asbury, Webb delivered five strikeouts to the first eight at bats. The right-handed pitcher went on to claim another shutout win, recording a season-high six strikeouts through the seven-inning affair.

Webb found her rhythm as of late, now holding onto a 4-3 season record to date. Over the course of her 2019 campaign, the sophomore has tallied 19 strikeouts and has earned the same number of runs.

Mid-South Conference action begins this weekend, as Webb and company will travel to Columbia, KY to take on #8 Lindsey Wilson. First pitch in the Patriots-Blue Raiders match-up will be at 5:00 PM EST.
