Patriots Utilize Offensive Efficiency in Win Over Tenth-Ranked Bulldogs

Williamsburg, KY – The fourth-ranked UC women's lacrosse team took the first 14 shots of the game and converted them into ten goals as the Patriots defeated tenth-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan 23-4 Friday afternoon at the UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex.  Three Patriot players recorded at least seven points in the win.

The Patriots got on the board a minute into the game as Jaclyn Berry connected with Emily Heim for a goal.  Heim then found Kelsey Fearing for a man-down goal to extend the lead to 2-0 with 23:51 remaining.  Amanda Phillips scooped the next draw control and on the ensuing possession Berry found Katie Brewer, who put a scoop shot past the goalie to make it 3-0.  Brewer added another goal before Berry added three more to extend the lead to 7-0 with 19:46 remaining in the first half.  UC pushed there lead to 10-0 midwya through the first half with all ten goals being assisted.  Bella Ricchiazzi and Shea West combined for three of UC's next five goals to extend their lead to 15-1 at halftime.

The two teams traded goals before Brewer netted back-to-back goals to push the lead to 18-2 with 18:13 remaining.  Kimberly Persaud sparked a five-goal run for the Patriots to extend the lead to 23-2 with 4:25 remaining in the second half.  Tennessee Wesleyan netted the final two goals of the contest for the 23-4 final.

Brewer netted a career-high six goals and eight points, while Berry recorded seven goals and dished out six assists.  Heim notched six assists in the game as Phillips and Ricchiazzi finished with four points each.  Phillips also scooped a team-high eight ground balls in the contest.

UC returns to action Monday, March 11, when they travel to Columbia, SC to face the Kolas.  The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live stats are available here.
