8/21/2019 2:02:00 PM

Williamsburg, KY - The University of the Cumberlands men's golf program land the No. 5 spot in the 2019-20 Mid-South Conference preseason poll. Tuesday's release comes as the Patriots begin preparation for the upcoming season under Patriot golf legend and first year head coach, Aaron Watkins.

Head coaches from all eight schools submitted their votes, including Thomas More University who enter their first season of competition in the Mid-South. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.

The Patriots garnered 22 points to land at fifth on this season's poll after placing fourth in 2019's spring campaign. UC also placed fifth in the MSC Championship last season in Bowling Green.

Reigning conference champ Lindsey Wilson College is favored to repeat in 2019-20, earning the top spot in the poll. The Blue Raiders boast 44 votes, including three out of five first place nods.
The Phoenix of Cumberland University racked up 43 votes, placing them a close second behind Lindsey Wilson. Cumberland also picked up five first place votes.

Thomas More University makes their debut at No. 6 in the poll, receiving 16 votes. Shawnee State and Pikeville round out the poll tied for seventh place with 14 votes respectively.

Patriots men's golf open their season at the Bill Sargent Invitational for the 12th straight season, dating back to the 2007-08 campaign. For the first time in program history the invitational will be held at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Kentucky on Sept. 7th and 8th.
