Silvis, IL - The University of the Cumberlands men's golf team wrapped up play at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship on Wednesday at TPC Deere Run, finishing tied for 20th overall after posting a two-round score of 602 (+42) on the par-70 course.
Morgado led the way for the Patriots during Wednesday's second round, carding a 72 (+2) with four birdies to move into a tie for 20th individually. After shooting 38 (+4) on his opening nine, Morgado closed strong with a 34 (-2) over his final nine holes.
Colby Johnson finished the tournament tied for 46th overall after recording a second-round 76 (+6). Johnson totaled three birdies during the round.
Eli Fischer posted a 78 (+8) on Wednesday and finished tied for 117th, while
Alexei Butchart carded an 80 (+10) to place tied for 127th overall.
Thomas White rounded out the Patriots lineup with a 75 (+5), highlighted by two birdies in the round.
Following the completion of round two, the top 15 teams and ties, along with the top six individuals not on an advancing team, moved on to the final two rounds of competition.
Pedro Morgado earned one of those individual qualifying spots and will continue to play for the Patriots in rounds three and four.
Morgado will return to the course Thursday for the third round of the national championship as one of the top individual competitors remaining in the field. The field will tee off for Round Three using split tees, both No. 1 and No 10, at 8:00 AM CT.
